FLUTE 102: MASTERING THE BASICS
continues
the technical, creative, and musical development of intermediate flutists by integrating etudes, solo repertoire, orchestral
excerpts, and contemporary techniques into an innovative curriculum. Continuation of the pioneering set
of practicing and phrasing guides expands on the pedagogical approach used in Flute 101:
Mastering the Basics. NOW
AVAILABLE
Each
of the Units of Flute 102: Mastering the Basics includes five
separate lessons of exercises and repertoire in a major key, relative or parallel minor key, or dominant key.
The theoretical exercises feature scales, thirds, arpeggios and major/minor seventh chords, rhythm studies and etudes
by Barret, Gariboldi, George, Louke, Maquarre, Soussmann, and Wohlfarht. The Contemporary Techniques Solos
at the end of the book may be used with any lesson to enrich the flutist’s study. Flute
102: Mastering the Basics is rich in solo selections from the Baroque, Classic, Romantic, and Contemporary
repertoire. Upon completion, we encourage the student to perform a solo recital selecting works from this
repertoire. Piano parts and additional solos can be found in the companion book Flute
